Josh Geary
Owner/President
Rising Force Construction's Josh Geary has owned and managed the company for
11 years. Before founding Rising Force, Josh had the toughest apprenticeship
of anyone in the industry. The youngest of 11, Josh learned the trade from
his brothers; all 8 of them are in the construction business in Pittsburgh,
PA; so you can say that Josh grew up with a tool belt on and learned from
some of the toughest teachers around.
Relocating to Florida, Josh began working for some of the areas large
drywall companies, on commercial projects which included sports stadiums,
public schools and hospitals. He progressed through the firm eventually
serving as project manager and superintendent for many institutional
projects. Feeling the time was right to go out on his own, he founded Rising
Force Construction, acting as subcontracting firm specializing in light and
heavy gauge metal framing and drywall hanging/finishing. He expanded into
all aspects of interior finish work, working in both the residential and
commercial sectors providing flooring, trim, tile and painting services.
Several years ago Josh earned his State of Florida Builder's License, and is
registered to conduct business in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties as well
as in the City of Tampa. He is certified by the state of Florida as a My
Safe Florida Home contractor and is an Energy Star R builder.
Josh became very aware of the need for energy efficient, affordable houses
after working on many large luxury homes in the area. "Saving money on
utility bills is important to everyone", Josh says, "the environmental
component, that's the feel-good part." He has attended many workshops and
completed course work in green construction technologies and includes a
green aspect in nearly every project. Josh's is determined not to send
truckloads of debris to the landfill during a demolition project; finding a
purpose for the old materials, either through donations to non-profit
organizations or sending as much as possible to recycling centers. Whether
it is utilizing low or no VOC paints, suggesting green alternatives for
flooring, or installing new energy efficient fixtures, Josh is determined to
create a more ecological-friendly and long term cost-savings result for you
as a Rising Force Construction customer.
Lisa J. Montelione
Development Manager
In the building and development industry for 25 years, Lisa is the Development Manager of Rising Force Construction. She is responsible for advancing its green building program, which includes new construction and green renovations. Rising Force Construction is an Energy Star Partner and member of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter – US Green Building Council, currently engaged in building energy efficient, green affordable housing, as well as commercial and residential renovations. As a member of the Vertical Codes Committee and the Green Building Committee/Tampa Bay Builders Association, she has advanced knowledge the systems and processes of developing regulations with governmental agencies. She worked with the organizing committee and was a sponsor of the first annual Going Green Tampa Bay Expo and was a facilitator at the Green Roofs for Healthy Cities Symposium. Lisa also participated in the All-American Cities 2008 conference, Tampa City Council’s work sessions to develop its Green Ordinance, and is a member of Tomorrow Matters - Tampa Bay and of USF Collaborative’s - Planning for Tampa’s Future. A former Hillsborough County Planner and Land Development Administrator of Transcend Development Corporation, the land development affiliate of Sunrise Homes Corporation, Lisa has extensive knowledge of site development of large land holdings, preparing site plans, permit applications and environmental assessments in collaborative relationships with engineers, planners and regulatory agencies. Lisa has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL
Working in both the commercial and residential markets, RFC’s experience includes new construction, additions, renovations and remediation/repair work functioning as the building contractor or job superintendent when Rising Force is subcontracted by others. Rising Force Construction has a vast amount of framing experience, installing wood and both light and heavy gauge metal stud framing as well as with structural steel erection, box beams, headers & columns, interior and exterior joist & rafters for load bearing walls; constructing complex ceilings, soffits and bulkheads. Hanging gypsum wallboard for multi faceted, coffered, dome and arch construction with custom textures and finishes has become commonplace for Rising Force crews.
Believing that being environmentally conscious is good business, Rising Force has sought to utilize deconstructed materials and recycle waste generated from demolition work. Bringing the movement forward, RFC is currently is building “Green”, energy efficient homes, utilizing only the best and most recent energy efficient products to make the homes earth friendly with the goal of increasing value through energy savings to home owners. The walls have an R value of 24.5 which could save the resident hundreds of dollars a year in reduced heat and air conditioning bills. These homes are not only environmentally friendly, they are being built in the affordable housing market, showing that being “eco-conscious” doesn’t always translate to “eco-expensive”. Rising Force is an Energy Star Partner, committed to building homes that meet the DOE’s stringent standards.
